About us
The Eastern Mediterranean Region Pharmaceutical Forum was founded in 2002. In the Eastern Mediterranean Region there has been a focus on human resources development, with training of healthcare workers and occupational health staff in many industry sectors. Priority areas are a study on the development of occupational health services in Eastern Mediterranean countries, and health problems of working children.
Our priority FIP Development Goals for 2024 are:
- DG 2 (Early career training strategy)
- DG 10 (Equity and equality)
- DG 15 (People-centred care)
- DG 16 (Communicable diseases)
- DG 17 (Antimicrobial stewardship)
- DG 20 (Digital health)
Other key priorities are to support FIP’s humanitarian, non-communicable diseases, and sustainability in pharmacy programmes.

Projects
Occupational health services
A study on developing occupational health services in Eastern Mediterranean countries and addressing the health problems of working children.
Collaboration with the World Health Organization
We are working closely with the WHO to improve healthcare efficiency and accessibility through innovative pharmacy services.
Creation of an expertise database
We plan to create a database of expertise across the region to facilitate engagement and collaboration.
FIP-UNESCO UNITWIN centre transition
We are leading efforts to transition the FIP-UNESCO UNITWIN Centre for Excellence to an association that includes schools of pharmacy across the Eastern Mediterranean, enabling resource sharing and educational initiatives.
Women in science and education survey
We are planning a survey to identify gaps and solutions for inequalities faced by women in science and education and early-career pharmacists. The findings will be used to set actions in collaboration with the FIPWiSE initiative.
